DHAKA: The High Court (HC) Tuesday asked to examine the imported Brazilian wheat and submit report within 72 hours on whether those are edible or not.

An HC bench of Justice Kazi Reza Ul Haque and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman passed the order following a writ petition.

Advocate Pavel Mia filed the writ seeking HC directives for testing the wheat by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) and Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute.

He also pleaded that a probe by the Anti-Corruption Commission be ordered if the wheat was found substandard in the tests.
