74 trafficking victims return from India

BENAPOLE (JESSORE): A total of 74 trafficking victims, including 72 women and two children, have returned home through Benapole land port in Jessore Thursday evening.

India government has sent the victims by providing them travel permit.

However, India’s Petrapole Immigration Police handed over the trafficked people to Benapole Immigration Police.

Benapole Immigration Police sub-inspector (SI) Anwarul Hossain told banglanews that the victims, who were trafficked to India with a promise of better jobs, are residents of Jessore, Narail, Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Barisal, Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong districts.

After legal procedure the victims were handed over to Benapole Port Thana, he added.

According to the SI, two non-government organizations Bangladesh Mahila Ainjibi Samiti and Rights Jessore have received the victims to send them to their families.
