DHAKA: Supreme Court Appellate Division fixed July 29 for pronouncing verdict on appeal of Salauddin Quader (SQ) Chowdhury filed challenging death penalty for war crimes.
An SC bench led by Chief Justice Sk Sinha passed the order on Tuesday after end of hearings.
On October 29 of 2013, opposition BNP lawmaker SQ Chowdhury on Tuesday appealed against his death sentence given by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 for his involvement with war crimes during 1971.
On October 1, Justice ATM Fazle Kabir led three member of ICT-1 awarded death sentence to Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury who was found guilty of nine charges out of 23 allegations.
Out of total 23 charges, however, SQ Chowdhury was acquitted of eight charges and while the prosecution failed to prove six allegations.
