DHAKA: Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam on Tuesday said they have identified those involved with the murder of blogger Avijit Roy and started operations to detain them.

Monirul Islam was talking to journalists at noon.

He further said, “We have identified seven people who were directly involved with the murder.”

“Of them, two chopped Avijit while other five were around the spot,” he added.

In response to a question about details of the “killers”, he said they have found photographs and names but not detail address.

Earlier on February 26, blogger Avijit Roy was chopped to death at TSC area on Dhaka University campus while he was returning from Ekushey Book Fair.

His wife Rafida Ahmed Bonna was also injured in the incident.
