DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Mohammad Asaduzzaman Mia reiterated that the city dwellers should inform police at least one day before their distribution of zakat items.
He made the warning at a clothes distribution program held at Paltan Community Centre in city on Saturday morning.
The DMP boss further said that they should be aware about the safety of poor people during the distribution of zakat materials.
Legal action will be taken against the zakat payers, if any accident takes place, he warned.
He further said there is a tendency to setup makeshift shops by occupying pavements and park vehicles by roads ahead of upcoming Eid-ul-fitr. It enhances suffering of pedestrians.
According to him, police will continue their drives in evicting makeshift shops and illegal parking.
