RIYADH: Bangladesh state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam is now staying in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to express the nation’s condolence over the demise of Prince Saud bin Faisal, an adviser on foreign affairs to Saudi king Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
The state minister landed at King Abdul Aziz Airport at 3:45am (local time) Monday.
Saudi foreign ministry deputy chief of protocol Sami Jamil received Shahriar at the airport.
Bangladesh ambassador to KSA Golam Moshi, Jeddah consulate acting consul general Mokammel Hossain, Jeddah Awami Parishad acting president Kazi Nowfel and general secretary Sattajul Alam Dipu were present at the airport.
Mokammel Hossain told banglanews that the state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam will express deep condolence on behalf of the government to the death of Prince Saud bin Faisal at a condolence meeting to be held at the Jeddah palace of Prince Khalid Al Faisal, a brother of the deceased and also governor of Makkah.
However, Prince Saud al Faisal had been working as the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia for 40 years. Later, he became advisor on foreign affairs to the king.
The deceased was a son of King Faisal of KSA.
The state minister is scheduled to return home on July 14.
