COX’S BAZAR: At least two Rakhine youths drowned and three other went missing while they were observing festival for rainy season at Cox’s Bazar sea beach Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Imon Chowdury, 24 and Monsen, 23.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP-Tourist) Zahirul Islam told banglanews that the Buddhist community observes rainy season festival during the season.

Wave washed away five youths while they were performing rituals around 5:30pm, he added.

Local divers, later, recovered two bodies while three were missing.

ASP Zahirul Islam also said the bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
