COX’S BAZAR: Muggers chopped dead a police constable at the Laboni Point beach of the district Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Parvez Hossain, 22, son of one Bashir, hailed from Gaurisen village of Comilla sadar.

Witnesses said muggers stabbed plain clothed on-duty constable Parvez from behind while he went to save a tourist from being robbed around 8:00am.

Locals rushed him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where on-duty declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police Zahirul Islam told banglanews that they have detained two in this connection.
