Bus kills constable in city

DHAKA: A police constable was killed as a passenger bus knocked his motorcycle at Karwan Bazar area in city Friday afternoon.

The deceased police official was identified as Sohel Rana, 32, constable of the special branch (SB), and son of one Khalilur Rahman, hailed from Thanapara of Kushtia sadar.

Tejgaon Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mazharul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Quoting witnesses, he further said Constable Sohel Rana was injured critically as a bus knocked his motorcycle in front of MRS Bhaban of BRB Cables at Karwan Bazar around 2:00pm.

Local people rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on duty doctor of the emergency department declared him dead on arrival.
