DHAKA: At least 32 people were killed and 40 others injured in countrywide accidents on Friday.

Dhaka: A motorcyclist, Mujibur Rahman, 53, was killed and another one injured as a truck knocked the motorcycle on Kanchpur Bridge in city around 11:00am.
Injured Faruq, also nephew of Mujibur Rahman told banglanews that a truck knocked the motorcycle from behind in the area while they were going to Bhulta Gauchhia market, leaving them injured critically.
Local people rushed them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on duty doctor declared Mujibur Rahman dead on arrival, he added.
Meanwhile, a constable of special branch (SB), Sohel Rana, 32, was killed as a passenger bus knocked his motorcycle at Karwan Bazar area in city around 2:30pm.
Quoting witnesses, Tejgaon Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mazharul Islam said the constable was injured critically as a bus knocked his motorcycle in front of MRS Bhaban of BRB Cables at Karwan Bazar around 2:00pm.
Local people rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on duty doctor of the emergency department declared him dead on arrival, he added.
On the other hand, a ready made garments (RMG) worker Nasrin Akhter, 19, was killed and two others injured in a road accident at Kuril area in city around 5:00am.
A few passengers including Nasrin went flung outside through the bus window as the driver of the bus lost control over the steering and hit the road divider in the area.
Later, the bus ran over Nasrin, leaving her dead on the spot and two others injured.
Besides, a youth was killed as a bus ran over him at Shewrapara area in city around 8:00am.
Meanwhile, a 9-year old girl, Sumaiya, daughter of one Asad, hailed from Firoz Shah Colony of Chittagong fistrict sadar, was drowned in Ichhamati River at Dohar Upazila of the district.
Bogra: A passer-by, Mostafizur Rahman Bulu, 50, was killed and two others injured as a microbus crashed a human hauler on Bogra-Naogaon highway at Choumuhuni Bazar area under Dupchanchia Upazila of the district around 12:00pm.
Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector of Dupchanchia Thana Abu Musa and a microbus driver were injured as a police pick-up and a microbus collided at Taluk area of the upazila around 10:00am.
Gazipur: Five people were killed and nine others injured as a covered van crashed a human hauler on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Naojor area of the district around 9:15am.
Nilphamari: A youth, Aiyub Ali, 27, was killed as a tractor turned turtle on himself at Haroa area of Nilphamari town around 9:00am.
Barisal: A motorcyclist, Nasir Uddin, 30, was killed and two others injured as a passenger bus knocked the vehicle on Dhaka-Barisal highway at Kotoksthol under Gaurnadi Upazila of the district around 11:30am.
Feni: An unidentified person was killed by falling down from a running train at Fatehpur rail crossing area of the sadar upazila around 10:00am.
Gopalganj: A woman, Begum, 40, was killed as a passenger bus ran over her at Tungipara Upazila of the district around 7:00am.
Patuakhali: Four members of family died from electrocution in a pond in which a live electric wire had fallen at Dholapara village under Bauphal upazila of the district around 12:30pm.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hye, 50, his two daughters Tina, 22 and Dina, 20 and Ibrahim Khan, 45.
Bauphal Thana officer-in-charge Masuduzzaman told banglanews Abdul Hye went to the pond to collect fish floating in the water and got electrocuted. Later, three others were also electrocuted as they tried to save Hye.
Madaripur: A head-on collision between a local bus and a microbus in Dasar area of the district left four people dead and 15 others with injuries around 1:00pm.
Dasar Thana officer-in-charge Emdadul Haque confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Tangail: Two passengers were killed and five others injured as a bus turned turtle on Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway at Sohagpur area under Mirzapur Upazila of the district early Friday.
Chapainawabganj: Two people, including head master of a primary school, were killed in different thunderbolts at Adda and Jogibari villages under Gomastapur Upazila of the district around 2:30pm.
Sherpur: A man, Quashem Mia, 40, was killed and four others injured as a bus knocked a human hauler at Ahmednagar area under Jhenaigati Upazila of the district around 12:30pm.
Kushtia: Two sisters, including a student of Khulna Medical College and Hospital, were drowned at Kumarkhali Upazila of the district in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Jhuma, 23, and Jui, 16, daughters of Krishi Bank officer Amjad Hossain, hailed from Mahishakhola village of the upazila.
Relatives of the deceased, however, alleged that they died as there was no physician at Upazila Health Complex.
Jhenaidah: An 8-year old boy, Asif Hossain, son of one Billal Hossain, hailed from Aruakandi village under sadar upazila, was electrocuted after being ensnared in an electric trap to kill foxes in the afternoon.
Thakurgaon: A man, Monir Uddin, 60, was killed on Pirganj-Ranisankail road at Gonirhat area of Pirganj Upzaila as a motorcycle knocked him while he was crossing the road around 7:00pm.
