BENAPOLE (JESSORE): After serving for different jail-term, eight Bangladeshi women and children returned from India on Friday.
Petrapole immigration police of India handed over the victims to Benapole check post immigration police of Bangladesh around 4:00pm.
Later, police sent them to Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) around 4:30pm.
Benapole immigration police Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar told banglanews that the Indian police arrested these victims from one and half years to six years ago on charge of trespassing.
They were jailed for different terms as the Indian court found them guilty. Later, Kisholoy, a non-government organization (NGO), and Legal Aides and Training Centre kept the victims in their shelter home after releasing them from jail.
Later, two countries’ foreign ministry officials talked about the matter to return them.
BNWLA Jessore District coordinator Nasina Akhter told banglanews that the returned women and children will be handed over to their relatives within a week.
They will also give assistance if any one wants to file case against the traffickers, she added.
