‘Robber’ killed in Rajbari ‘gunfight’

RAJBARI:  A robber was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Burudia village of Pansha upazila of the district early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Sobahan, 49, resident of Laxmandia village of the upazila.

Pangsha Thana officer-in-charge ASM Iqbal Hayat told banglanews that police along with detained robber kingpin Sobahan went to a mango garden of Burudia village around 1:30am to recover firearms.

Sensing the presence of police, members of Sobahan group opened fire that forced police to retaliate.

During the gunfight, Sobahan sustained bullet injuries. Later, he was taken to Rajbari Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Besides, seven policemen, including OC of Pansha Thana, were injured during the time.
 
During the drive, police recovered a foreign-made revolver, two one-barrel shooter guns, and eight round bullets from the spot.

Sobahan was accused in six cases, including killing and robbery.
