MUNSHIGANNJ: At least two persons, including a woman, were killed and 17 others injured as a passenger bus with 51 passengers sank in a marsh beside Dhaka-Mawa highway at Ompara Bot Tola in Srinagar Upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Ramiz Ali, 60, hailed from Keraniganj of Dhaka and Shambhunath Barman, 35, hailed from Srinagar.

Of the injured, two were shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from Shologhor Health Complex and other 15 were released after giving primary treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srinagar Thana Majibur Rahman told banglanews that the bodies were rescued around 4:15pm.

Quoting local people, he also said some 15-17 people swam ashore after the incident.

With the help local people, police and fire service officials have rescued the bus, he added.
