LONDON: United Kingdom expressed its deep shock at the murder of blogger Niloy Neel and promised to stands together with the government of Bangladesh in the face of extremism.
In a statement, issued on Friday afternoon (local time), Foreign & Commonwealth Office Minister Hugo Swire, expresses theses.
Hugo Swire said, “I was appalled to learn of the violent murder in Bangladesh of blogger Niloy Neel, the fourth such death this year. It was a horrifying and cowardly crime.
He also expressed his empathy to Niloy’s family and friends.
The UK FCO Minister also called on the Bangladeshi authorities to investigate Niloy’s death urgently and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Mentioning the freedom of speech is a universal right, which must be protected, Hugo Swire said the UK stands together with the people and government of Bangladesh in the face of extremism.
Earlier on Friday, another Blogger and online activist named Niloy Neel, 40, was slaughtered by unidentified miscreants in his house at Khilgaon in the capital.
