DHAKA: Detective Police (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in separate drives, detained five fake DB police and four robbers from Motijheel and Shahjahanpur areas of the city Friday night.

The police also seized arms and ammunitions, microbus, two sets of police dress, one walkie-talkie set, two machetes, one battery charger, one cross belt, one motorcycle and other equipment used by police.

Deputy Commissioner of DMP, Muntasirul Islam, confirmed the matter at DMP media center at 11:30am Saturday.

He further said police detained five fake DB police from Motijheel area in city around 10:30pm.

The detainees said they were members of inter-district robber gang, he added.

Police, in another drive, held four robbers from Shahjahanpur area around 8:30pm, he added.

Muntasirul Islam also said three cases were filed with Shahjahanpur and Motijheel thanas.
