DHAKA: A team of five American students along with their teacher visited banglanews24.com office in city’s Bashundhara residential area on Sunday to know about the history, culture and media of Bangladesh.
They are the students of Bangla Language Institute of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).
Banglanews consultant editor Jewel Mazhar informed the visiting team about different aspects of the country.
He talked about the history of country’s independence, Bangla language, culture, media, politics, education, agriculture and so on.
The students Brandon, Katie, Megan, Jade and Daniel, who have come to attend a 2-month course in Bangla language at IUB under the US ‘Critical Language Scholarship’, also upheld their respective views regarding their study and stay in Bangladesh.
Brandon said that people of Bangladesh, unlike the US citizens, come forward to help unknown people especially the foreigners.
Katie expressed her hope to visit and do extensive research on shrimp farms and cultivation especially in the country’s south-western region.
Megan felt happy to talk with people in her newly-learnt language Bangla while Jade was eager to know about the media particularly, the difference of online newsportal banglanews comparing to existing traditional newspapers.
Moreover, Daniel remarked that Bangladeshis can easily build up affinity with other people.
Bangla Language Institute teacher Sohel Raihan said that students of the institute will also involve with research works along with learning Bangla language during their course time.
Banglanews chief of correspondents Sherajul Islam Shiraj, chief of photo correspondents Nazmul Hassan, deputy chief of photo correspondents Kashem Harun and staff correspondent Tabarul Haque, among others, also attended the view exchange program.
