DHAKA: Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police detained eight fake DB and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) men from Jasimuddin Avenue in city’s Uttara area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media center made the disclosure on Tuesday afternoon.

Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) Iftekharul Islam told banglanews that on tip-off law enforcers conducted a drive on Monday in Uttara and caught eight fake DB and RAB men red handed.

The detainees, identified as Arifuzzaman Sharif, Mohammad Ripon, Mizanur Rahman, Rafiqul Islam, Mohammad Ainuddin, Helal Uddin and Mohammad Uzzal, were taking preparation for robbery, he added.

Police also seized four jackets, a piece of Walkie-Talkie and handcuff, three machetes and a microbus.

A car hijacking prevention team, led by AC Shahadat Hossin, conducted the drive following the direction of DMP detective and criminal information department deputy-police commissioner (DC) Sajjadur Rahman.
