SYLHET: An indefinite bus strike, called by Sylhet district Bus Owners Association, is underway in the area from Wednesday.
Buses from Sylhet to other parts of the country have come to a halt as a protest of beating a bus driver to death at Saidabad Bus Stand in city.
Confirming the matter to banglanews Sylhet inter-district Bus Owners Association president Selim Ahmed said that they are enforcing the strike to press government to bring the criminals to justice.
Sylhet district transport workers union president Selim Ahmed Falik told banglanews that they are observing the strike following the previous announcement.
We will announce fresh programs after a meeting this evening, he added.
Sylhet additional police super (media) Sugyan Chakma told banglanews that they did not get any report of untoward situation during the strike.
Additional police forcers are being deployed on national and regional highways, he added.
