DHAKA: Police arrested two warranted accused of crimes against humanity case in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona district on Wednesday.
The accused, Abdur Rahman (75) and Ahmad Ali (70), were arrested from Sonaikanda village of the upazila.
They are set to be handed over to International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 in Dhaka on Thursday.
The duo are among the seven accused in the crimes against humanity case in Purbadhala.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 3-member ICT-1, led by its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim, issued an arrest warrant against them.
Regarding the arrest tribunal prosecutor Sabina Yasmin Munni said that investigation officer Shahjahan Kabir conducted an inquiry against seven in accusation of their involvement in crimes against humanity during the country’s war of independence in 1971.
Primary investigation showed the duo’s involvement in crimes. So, their arrest is needed for more investigation, she added.
