NILPHAMARI: Four police persons were killed and six others injured as a train hit the pick-up van, carrying the law enforcers, in Syedpur upazila early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Constables of Syedpur Thana Shamsul Haque, Faruk Hossain, Maidul Islam and Shariful Islam.

Six injured policemen were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Local sources said the Dhaka-bound train, coming from Chilahati station, hit the prick-up van while passing the Dhelapir rail crossing at 12:00am, leaving two policemen dead of the spot and eight others injured.

District police super Jakir Hsossian confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital.
