DHAKA: After 44 years of nation’s independence, a portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been installed on the premises of National Press Club in city on Saturday morning.

However, nation is observing the 40th martyrdom of Bangabandhu on the day as national mourning day.

The image was engraved on stone and installed on the wall of the club’s lobby.

Prime Minster’s information affairs advisor and also a veteran journalist Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury at the event said that Bangabandhu donated the land piece for the National Press Club but we had failed to pay due tribute to the father of the nation for a long.

He also termed the day a remarkable day in the history of National Press Club.

National Press Club president Shafiqur Rahman said that it was long-desired event but they could fulfill the dream on Saturday as anti-liberation elements were always active in the club.

Eminent journalist leaders Golam Sarwar, Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, Shyamal Dutta and Kuddus Afrad, among others, were present at the event.
