DHAKA: Customs intelligence department detained a man with 18 gold bars worth of Tk 1-crore from green channel at Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday.

The detainee Selim Udddin, passenger of an Emirates Airlines flight, arrived here from Dubai this morning and customs officers challenged him for his suspicious movement while passing the green channel.

After search, police seized gold bars weighing four kilograms hidden into two steel-made water taps, said Airport Customs Duty Intelligence department Assistant director Umme Nahida Akter.
 
Selim hailed from Fatikchhari of Chittagong. Process of filing a case in this connection is underway, she added.
