Social welfare minister Mohsin Ali passes away

MOULVIBAZAR: Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali passed away at a Singapore hospital early Monday. He was 67.

Moulvibazar Swechchasebok League president Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter.

He was undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital.

Earlier on September 5, he was taken to Singapore by air-ambulance for better treatment.
 
The minister was admitted to BIRDEM Hospital on September 3, with pneumonia, diabetics and heart-related complexities.

The minister breathed his last in Singapore at 8.59 am (Bangladesh time), said Acting secretary of the ministry Rupon Kanti Sheel.

The freedom fighter left his wife, three daughters, relatives, party men and well-wishers to mourn his death.

During liberation war, he was the commander of CnC (Commander and Conquer) special batch in Sylhet. He sustained bullet injuries in face to face battle.
   
He was an elected lawmaker from Moulvibazar-3 constituency in 2008 and 2014.

Prior to become Member of Parliament (MP), Mohsin Ali was elected as Moulvibazar Paurashava Chairman for three consecutive terms.

He was born on December 12, 1948 in Kolkata of West Bengal.
