41 Bangladeshis dead in Hajj stampede, 148 missing

RIYADH: Jeddah consulate consul general AKM Shahidul Karim has confirmed that at least 41 Bangladesh nationals were killed and 148 reportedly missing in the stampede near Makkah during hajj performance.

Regarding missing hajjis, he said that they prepared the list as per complaints of relatives and information from different sources. But it is not verified.

About injured hajjis, Shahidul Karin said 61 Bangladeshi hajjis are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Makkah.

On September 24, the stampede occurred during the ritual of “stoning the satan” where 769 pilgrims were killed and 934 were injured.
