NILPHAMARI: District police Sunday formed a five-member probe team over the Syedpur train accident that claimed lives of four policemen.

The committee, headed by Nilphamari additional police Super Abu Maruf Hossain, was asked to submit report within seven working days.

Other members of the committee include district’s addition police super Ashraful Islam, assistant police supers Sajudur Rahman, Firoj Kabir and DIO-1 Altaf Hossain.

Nilphamari police Super M Jakir Hossain Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
 
Earlier on Saturday, Railway Pakshi division formed a four-member investigation team.

Four police persons were killed and six others injured as a train hit the pick-up van, carrying the law enforcers, in Syedpur upazila early Saturday.

Six injured policemen were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Local sources said the Dhaka-bound train, coming from Chilahati station, hit the prick-up van while passing the Dhelapir rail crossing at 12:00am, leaving two policemen dead of the spot and eight others injured.

Two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital.
