DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members detained three persons suspecting them as prime planners and financiers of the murders of two bloggers -- Avijit Roy and Ananta Bijoy Das.

The detainees were identified as Tawhidul Islam, Sadeque Ali and Aminul Mollik. Of them, Sadeque Ali and Aminul Mollik were the alleged planners.

The elite force detained the trio from Nilkhet and Dhanmondi areas in city Monday night.

RAB HQ assistant director (media and legal wing) Major Maqsudul Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews around 11:30am Tuesday.

RAB spokesperson claimed the arrestees were members of banned Islamic outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team.
