PM directs DSCC to tackle waterlogging

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday directed the individuals concerned to ensure better drainage system in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas so that no roads go under water.

She also said the roads and drainage systems have to be built in such ways so that there can be no waterlogging.

The premier came up with the directives at Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting at NEC Conference Room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on the day.

Later, she gave approval to a project of Tk 205-crore for renovating roads, footpaths, drains of five areas of DSCC.

The PM also gave approval to another project of Tk 353.45-crore for the production and collection of high yielding seeds of rice, wheat and corn from 166 upazilas under 35 districts of six divisions.

Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal informed the matter to journalists after the meeting.
