2 remanded over Raja murder

DHAKA: A Court here granted 3-day remand for two accused of brutally beating a boy named Raja to death on allegation of stealing mobile phone.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the order when police placed them before the court with 10-day remand plea Tuesday.

Another accused confessed to the killing and he was sent to jail.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Hazaribagh thana unit president Arju, the prime accused of the murder case, was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Arju and his aides beat the 17-years-old Raja to death on August 17 on allegation of stealing a mobile phone set.

Later, Raja’s sister Reshma Akhter Shabana filed a case with the thana against 14 including BCL leader Arju as prime accused.
