DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal termed the killing incidents of ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders as ‘gunfight’ not ‘crossfire’.

City’s Hazaribagh Thana unit BCL president Arzu Mia and Magura municipality unit BCL former leader Mehedi Hasan alias Azibor Sheikh were killed in clashes with law enforcers on Tuesday (August 18).

‘They were killed in gunfights not in crossfire,’ the minister commented.

He made the comment in reply to questions of the journalists after a program held at Sonargaon Pan Pacific in city on Wednesday.

‘No criminal irrespective of political affiliation will be spared,’ he warned.

Arzu Mia was chief accused of beating teenage Raja Mia (16) to death in Hazari bagh while Azibor Sheikh was no 3 accused of shooting an elderly person to death and a pregnant woman in Magura.
