DHAKA: A five-year-old boy, who suffered burns in a fire that broke out at their house in Elabari area of South Keraniganj, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Gani, 5, son of Ripon, 40, who also sustained severe burns along his wife Malida, 33, their daughter Ripa, 15, elder son Manir Hossain, 12. 

On August 21, the fire originated from electric short circuit in the ceiling fan around 4am, leaving five of the family members burnt.

Locals recovered and admitted them to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Duty doctors of DMCH Burn unit said that condition of the injured is critical. Of them, Ripon received 65 percent burns while Malida sustained 31 percent burns.

Besides, Ripa admitted with 20 percent burns while Monir 22 percent and Abdul Gani 40 percent.
