DHAKA: The ‘Islamic State’ has claimed responsibility for the killing of a Japanese man in Bangladesh on Saturday.
The group has claimed responsibility, according to the SITE intelligence group, which monitors jihadist postings online.
The report could not be independently confirmed, however.
Kunio Hoshi, a Japanese citizen, was shot to death by unidentified assailants in Kownia upazila of Rangpur district on Saturday.
Later, police detained four people in connection with the killing of the man, the second foreign national killed in the country within a week.
Earlier, IS claimed responsibility for killing Cesare Tavella, an Italian working in Bangladesh.
