DHAKA: The government is set to conduct a weeklong countrywide drive to ensure the use of jute bags in six products.

The drive will commence on October 25.

The drive will be conducted on roads and highways, rice producing areas and the entry points to the capital.

The products include rice with chaff, rice, wheat, maize, sugar and fertilizer.

State minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam disclosed the matter in a ministry meeting on Tuesday.

The ministries of Home, Textiles and Jute and the Environment & Forests and jute directorate will conduct the drive with the help of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police officials and district administration.

Immediate actions would be taken against the persons found guilty during the drive.

Secretary Farid Uddin Ahamed Chowdhury, among others, was present in the meeting.
