COMILLA: The local administration Wednesday imposed section 144 in Daudkandi upazila to avert a possible clash between rival BNP and Shramik League as they arranged iftar mahfil at the same place and same time.
Daudkandi Thana OC SM Kawsar Uddin Chowdhury told banglanews24.com.bd, “Both BNP and Shramik League arranged ifter mahfils at Gouripur Munshi Fazlur Rahman Collage ground on Wednesday.  
“Under the circumstances, the upazila administration slapped the ban in and around the collage from 12 noon on Wednesday to 5am on Thursday to avoid the possible clash between the political rivals,” he said.

Daudkandi UNO Anwarul Naser said additional police have been deployed in the area Wednesday.

BNP standing committee member Dr. Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain was scheduled to attend local BNP’s iftar party and discussion meeting as chief guest on the occasion of party’s 32nd founding anniversary.

Earlier, on August 22 and 30, the local administration imposed section 144 in the upazila following the arrangements of iftar mahfil by rival groups.
