4 electrocuted in city as storm tears electric wires

Dhaka: Four people, two of them children, were electrocuted in the capital city as they came in contact with live electric wires that tore down during summer storms that lashed some parts of the country on Friday night.  

Three of the dead were identified as Sujon Mia, 10, son of Monu Mia of Shyampur under Jurain thana, and Hannan, 35, and Lily, 9, of Latif Bawani Jute Mill area under Demra thana. The fourth one of the nor’wester was a van-puller whose particulars could not be known.

Police recovered and sent the bodies to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

Several other people were also reported killed in Rajshahi and Sirajganj, where the thunderstorms cut a swathe through standing paddy and fruit crops.
