DHAKA: Detained Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Moinuddin alias Abu Jandal alias Masum Billah was Monday remanded for five days for grilling in one of the August 21 grenade attack cases.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ali Hossain passed the order as Special Police Super of CID and investigation officer Abdul Kahar Akhand produced him before the court with seven days’ remand plea.

Two cases were filed after the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital--one for killings and another filed under the Explosives Act.

At least 23 people, including Women Affair’s Secretary of Awami League Ivy Rahman, were killed and scores injured in the grenade attacks on the AL rally at Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21 in 2004.
