BSF hands over 9 Bangladeshis detained in Indian prison

THAKURGAON: Indian border guards handed over nine Bangladeshi citizens, detained in India’s jail, to BDR officials in Thakurgaon on Sunday morning.

Major Iftekhar Ahmed Qureshi, assistant commander of 2 Rifles Battalion stationed in Dinajpur, confirmed the matter of informal extradition of prisoners.

They are Sudhir Barman, Paban Singh Barman, Paban’s wife Asha Singh Barman, Mohammad Karim, Islam, Robin Chandra Paul and Yadab Barman and two children.

A team of BSF handed over them after a company commander-level flag meeting on the border in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon at about 10am.

Officials of BDR could not say anything as to when BSF picked them up and how many days they had been detained over there.
