Clash breaks at night in front of DMCH: 15 injured

DHAKA: At least 15 people were injured in a nighttime clash between students of Dhaka University Shahidullah hall and family members of Dhaka Medical College Hospital employees on Tuesday night.

Agitated students ransacked several shops and set fire to the front side of the emergency department of the hospital.

The clash erupted following an altercation between the hall students and children of the employees at the university playground over a “trifling matter”.

The exact reason behind the altercation could not be known, however.

Witnesses said in a sequel to an afternoon row, a group of students of Sahidullah hall attacked the shops in front of emergency department at about 10pm and set fire to several shops in an arson attack.

On information, police came to the scene and brought the situation under control.
