GOALANDO: Authorities have halted movement of passenger buses through Daulatdia-Paturia ghat for 72-hr from Sunday morning to ease traffic jam on both sides.

The decision was taken in a meeting of Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan with Bus owners association on Saturday night.

Besides, bus communications with southern part were disrupted due to the halt.

On last week, huge goods-laden trucks stuck on both sides of the ghat which caused much public sufferings.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia office assistant manager Abu Abdullah told banglanews, “Only goods-laden trucks are crossing the river by ferry from morning.”

Earlier, due to navigation crisis, a ferry got stuck and created serious problem haling service.

BIWTC Paturia office manager Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
