Man dies in city police custody

DHAKA: A person died while in police custody at Shahjahanpur police station in the capital early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Ahamed, 38, resided in Gulbagh area of Khilgaon.

Local sources said police held Saiful along with two others and took them to police station at around 8:30pm while he was coming out of Tikirpara slum in city’s Shahjahanpur area riding on a bike.

Shahjahanpur Thana Officer-in-Charge Ziauzzaman told banglanews, “All of them were drugs addict. In custody, he complained that he was suffering from pain in his chest.”

Later, police rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at around 1:00am.
