BARISAL: Barisal University (BU) authority cancelled the studentship of Rasel Mia for his alleged involvement in killing of Accounting Department student Sawda.

The accused is Rasel Mia, a second year student of Management Department and son of Harun Matubber of patharghata upazila of Barguna.  

After holding an urgent meeting of Syndicate at temporary campus of the varsity on Thursday night, University Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Harun-or-Rashid disclosed the decision of the varsity.

Professor Dr Harun-or Rashid said that university student Sawda, a first year student of the varsity, was hacked to death allegedly by Rasel Mia on Thursday.

So, the university syndicate took decision to cancel his studentship and recommended to suspend for life.
Meanwhile, following the incident, victim’s mother Sahida Begum filed a killing case with Kotwali Model police station.

Kotwali Model police station Officer-in-Charge Sakhawat Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on Thursday, the female student of Barisal University, who was stabbed to injure, by her lover succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Rusel stabbed Sawda with sharp weapon centering misunderstanding over love affairs at around 8:30am.
