JAMALPUR: A couple was slaughtered by unknown assailants at Junail village of Gunaritala union under Madariganj Upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Robijal Islam, 35 and his wife Morjina Begum, 30.

Madarganj police station Sub-inspector Rustom Ali told banglanews, “Seeing the bodies lying in a pool of blood at their home, locals called police.”

Primarily police suspected that the victims might have been slaughtered by sharp knife.

Jamalpur police super (SP) Nazrul Islam visited the spot.
