Kerry for dialogue to end crisis

DHAKA: US Secretary of State John Kerry sent letters to Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia urging to hold dialogue in a bid to resolve ongoing political crisis.

Confirming the matter on Monday, vice-chairman of BNP Shamser Mobin Chowdhury told banglanews, “Kerry put emphasis on talks.”

“The letter also reads, it is necessary for Bangladesh to hold a free and fair election,” said Shamser.

On August 23, Secretary General of United Nations Ban Ki Moon also talked over the phone with Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia and advised them to sit for talks to resolve political crisis.

Noted citizens of the country also are urging for talks.
