DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Awami League Lawmaker Golam Maula Rony in three cases filed for assaulting two journalists of a private TV channel.

An HC vacation bench comprising Justice Nizamul Haq Nasim and Justice Kashifa Hossain passed the order Tuesday.

After the hearing Rony’s counsel Abdul Baset Majumdar said there is no legal binding to release from jail.

The court also issued a rule upon authorities concerned why Rony should not get permanent bail.

The lawmaker will be in bail until disposal of the rule, he added.   

On July 24, Rony was arrested for assaulting two journalists of a private TV Channel.
