MAGURA: A lightning strike at Shyamnagar village of Mahammadpur upazila of the district killed a college student on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Azizar Rahman Mridha, 17, a class-XI student and son of late Abdur Rouf of the area.

Sources said Azizar was seriously injured as lightning struck him while he was fishing at Katlasuri marsh in the afternoon.

He was rushed to Mahammadpur upazila health complex where on duty doctor declared him dead.
