SYLHET: A man committed suicide after killing his two-year-old daughter at a city hotel near Dargah Gate on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Sadia Afrin, 2 and her father Alimullah, 30, hailed from Kotwali Thana of Comilla district.

Fatema Afrin, wife of Alimullah, told banglanews that they came to Sylhet to offer Jiyarat at Shahjajal (RH) Dargah at around 6:00am and booked a hotel room. Later, she found that her husband killed their daughter with a sharp knife.

She rushed to the hotel office and informed the hotel manager about the matter and found Alimullah is trying to commit suicide but failed for manager’s intervention.

Locking Alimullah in the room, manager went to inform police.

In the meantime, hotel staff informed that the man committed suicide by slitting throat with the same knife.

Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station Nasir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
