JOYPURHAT: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel held 19 teenagers while entering the country illegally from India through Hatkhola frontier under Panchbibi upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

Amongst the detainees, 18 were Bangladeshi teenagers and an Indian citizen, aged between 12 and 17-years-old.

BGB-3 Battalion Operations Officer Major Firoz Ahmed told banglanews, “The detainees were fled away from an adolescent development center in India and trying to intrude into Bangladesh territory through near pillar no. 281.”

Following the matter, Panchbibi police station Officer-in-Charge Farid Hossain told that they received a letter from BGB and necessary steps would be taken later.”
