SYLHET: Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Thana Ahmed Nasir Uddin Mohammad has been withdrawn for his failure to maintain law and order.

Metropolitan police commissioner (SMP) Nibhas Chandra Majhi in a letter confirmed the matter on Thursday.

Shahporan Thana Officer-in-Charge Akter Hossain was given the charge of Kotwali Model thana.

SMP sources said the withdrawal decision has been taken as killing, hijacking, robbery incidents increased and over all law-and-situation deteriorated in recent time.

After the robbery incident in jewelry market on September 4, businessmen demanded the withdrawal of senior officers of Sylhet Metropolitan Police including Commissioner Nibhas Chandra Majhi.
