DHAKA UNIVERSITY:  Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique on Saturday categorically said inscription is not only a piece of rock but also a narrative of the history.

He came up with the observation while addressing a publication ceremony of reports on ‘Lost Inscriptions of Dhaka’ at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhwry Senate Bhaban.

Terming inscriptions and epigraphs as imperative part of nation’s history and heritage, the educator said, “Wealth, human and memory could be lost but it’s quite incredible to think a nation is losing its own heritage and history.”

He said, “People who are allegedly involved in making the crap on heritage by stilling or disappearing inscriptions should be punished.”

Zakaria Mondol, an activist to reserve and perceive lost inscriptions, presented the keynote at the publication ceremony.

Chief of editorial panel of the publication archaeologist Abul Kalam Mohammad Zakaria, photographer Pavel Rahman and architect Shamsul Waresh were among others present on the occasion.    

They also emphasized to take immediate initiatives to find and reserve lost inscriptions and epigraphs as the key segment of history.
