DHAKA: The National Income Tax Day-2013 is being marked in the country Saturday with a view to creating awareness about income tax.

The slogan for the Income Tax Day 2013 is `Boost income tax; bring prosperity to the nation and the people`.
National Income Tax Board Chairman Golam Hossain as a chief guest inaugurated the programme marking the day at National Board of Revenue (NBR) Bhaban ground.

Countries renowned artists and celebrities expressed their about positive sides of paying income tax.
Renowned singer Abida Sultana said, “Paying tax means helping the country’s development. She urged all for paying tax.”

FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin said that sectors of tax and its collection have increased due to people’s awareness.

Pigeons and balloons were released from in front of NBR Bhaban at around 9:15am. Later, a procession was brought out with participation of students, Tax officials and others.

Income Tax fair will begin on Monday in divisional cities including Dhaka, district towns and three hill districts.

The fair will continue for seven days in divisional cities while two days in district towns and three hill districts.
