FROM SUPREME COURT: In his reaction after hearing Supreme Court verdict that awarded death penalty to Abdul Quader Mollah, witness Shahidul Haq Mama said: “I am very happy.”

Expressing satisfaction over the verdict, he added, “The verdict has dispelled my depression of 42-year and this verdict will help the nation to be united.”

Earlier, the Appellate division on Tuesday sentenced Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah to death for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971

The Apex Court passed the verdict at 9:37am after concluding the hearing on appeals filed against inadequate sentencing and conviction of war criminal and Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah.

On February 5, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 sentenced Quader Mollah to life in prison for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
